BUYING GUIDE / FASTENER PROCUREMENT
Bolt, Nut & Washer RFQ Checklist
A clear assembly request helps a supplier quote the intended combination of parts. Send one line for each bolt, nut and washer, and explain how those lines belong together.
01 / Define the complete set
Start with a drawing, bill of materials or a clear list of parts. Specify the quantity of each component per assembly and the total number of assemblies. Do not assume every set contains one bolt, one nut and two washers.
| Specify | Include in your request |
|---|---|
| Bolts | Standard and edition or drawing revision; nominal diameter; pitch; length; full or partial thread; required threaded length where applicable. |
| Nuts | Standard or drawing; nominal thread diameter and pitch; nut style; material and property class. |
| Washers | Standard or drawing; inside diameter, outside diameter and thickness; material and hardness requirement where specified. |
| Assembly requirements | Mating thread specification, tolerances, service environment and purchaser-approved inspection requirements. |
| Commercial details | Pieces per line, destination, requested delivery date, labels, inspection documents and packing. |
02 / Confirm compatibility before ordering
A nominal size alone is not a complete assembly specification. Have the mating thread, nut property class and washer requirements checked against the drawing and application. Do not treat a dimensional standard as a complete material or strength specification.
State the exact standard required. DIN 931, DIN 933, DIN 934 and ISO 7089 identify different product requirements; a proposed alternative needs review against the applicable edition and drawing. No DIN/ISO interchangeability is assumed in an SPM quotation.
03 / Specify material and finish separately
Provide the material designation and strength or hardness requirement for each component. Describe the finish, coating requirements and service environment. A product photograph does not confirm material, coating thickness or corrosion performance. Proposed substitutions require buyer approval.
04 / Packing and delivery
SPM’s confirmed packing approach for short fasteners is cartons with pallets. Common carton dimensions are 250 × 250 × 150 mm and 420 × 320 × 100 mm. The appropriate carton, pieces and net weight per carton, pallet dimensions, labels and protection are Confirmed per order.
MOQ, samples, supply combinations, inspection documentation, price and lead time are Confirmed per order. Include the destination country or port. A requested arrival date is a requirement for review, not a delivery guarantee.
